FAQ

FAQ - PeapodMats

What size PeapodMat should I order?

We recommend the following:
- Medium PeapodMat: toddler/single bed
- Small PeapodMat: armchair, chair, wheelchair etc.

We highly recommend that the PeapodMat is placed slightly under the pillow.

What are PeapodMats made of?

The PeapodMat is a unique combination of 3 layers that creates a super-absorbent breathable waterproof mat.

- Breathable terry cotton; grid stitched to prevent bunching
- Polyester liner to absorb and disperse moisture
- Brushed polyester that grips to surfaces; coated with breathable TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) waterproof layer. It's a greener and biodegradable product for the environment.

Do PeapodMats work with all bed sheets?

PeapodMats work best with regular cotton or terry bed sheets. If a bed sheet is very smooth, the PeapodMat will not grip as well and will move during the night. Run your hand across your bed sheet, if there is no texture, it feels very smooth or silky it may not be the best choice for the PeapodMat.

How does the PeapodMat absorb the liquid?

The liquid is dispersed in seconds between the top and middle layers. Unlike some mattress protectors, PeapodMats absorb the liquid immediately so it doesn't sit on top of the mat, wetting the entire bedding.

How much liquid do PeapodMats absorb?

PeapodMats are extremely absorbent and will safely absorb over 1 litre/6 cups of liquid. To compare: the adult bladder can hold up to 2 cups of urine at one time.

Are PeapodMats eco-friendly?

PeapodMats were designed to be as green as possible. For this reason, the bottom layer is made of TPU waterproof coating which is a green solution to PVC, plastic or vinyl. It is also breathable but leak-proof at the same time. Just what you need.

Can I wash PeapodMat with my regular laundry?

Yes, of course! PeapodMats were designed to make life so much easier.

Always wash with similar colours and treat your PeapodMat like a big towel in your regular wash. Not recommended is the regular use of fabric softener, dryer sheets, dryer balls or regular use of vinegar or stain removers. These products are known to reduce the quality of waterproofing. However, vinegar or stain removers may be used once in a while if you need extra help with your PeapodMat.

My PeapodMat got stiff after washing, what can I do?

This could be because too much detergent was used in the wash. Just like regular towels that may stiffen over time, it is usually because too much detergent has been used and the top layer has built up a soapy residue. If you experience this, we recommend washing your PeapodMat with a cup of white vinegar and/or baking soda, with a thorough rinse. This should help make the terry cotton layer soft and fluffy once again (but if the mat has a lot of residue, you may have to do this a couple of times).

Can I use PeapodMat in my baby's cot for sleeping?

No, we don’t recommend using PeapodMats for babies under 12 months old to sleep on, in a cot, Moses basket, or at any time unattended. Lullaby Trust's guidelines don't recommend infants under 12 months old to sleep with any loose bedding. PeapodMats sit on top of the bedsheet and although they don't really move, they aren't recommended for little ones under 12 months old.

We recommend using the PeapodMat for baby's nappy free time, tummy time, changing mat, burp cloth, car seat protector or during sickness.

How long will PeapodMats retain their waterproof qualities?

If cared for properly, PeapodMats will not loose their waterproof qualities for over 500 washes!
